New Releases

Published October 2021, Dr. Laws’ latest book is Weight Loss Surgery After Age 50: The Geriatric Bariatric Life. Funny and devastating, it chronicles a 50-year struggle with obesity, multiple weight loss attempts, regains, co-morbidities, and a near-fatal stomach band surgery prior to successful gastric bypass surgery at age 62.

Laws has successfully kept the weight off post-surgery and shares her strategies for success without suffering, while maintaining motivation.

“Dr. Rita Laws has written an informative, helpful book for anyone considering bariatric surgery for weight loss, but most particularly for those who are over age 50. The author had the surgery at age 62 and lost over 100 pounds and has maintained her weight loss over several years. She gives readers invaluable information about pre- and post-surgical concerns, explains the process and recovery, and—perhaps most importantly—shares strategies for changing one’s mindset and habits to sustain and manage weight.

Written in a friendly, conversational style, it’s a winner.”
